“Gone Home” and “Costume Quest 2” Team Up with New Publisher
In a press release issued on March 10th, it was announced that indie game publisher, Midnight City is adding two top-notch indie game studios to their ranks; Gone Home developer The Fullbright Company and Double Fine Productions, developers of Costume Quest and the upcoming Costume Quest 2.
Midnight City is the indie digital game publishing arm of Majesco Entertainment Company dedicated to supporting indie development teams with customized publishing services. Costume Quest 2 and Gone Home join Midnight City’s growing roster of indie titles alongside the likes of the handcrafted puzzler game, The Bridge, as well as the infamous madness-inducing Slender: The Arrival.
Gone Home, The Fullbright Company’s critically acclaimed, runaway hit game released in 2013 which centers around the discovery of an empty house and a family’s mysterious past, looks to be making a move to consoles with the help of Midnight City.
“Ever since we released Gone Home on PC, we’ve had people asking us– ‘When’s it coming to console?,” said Steve Gaynor, writer, designer and co-founder of The Fullbright Company. “We’ve been looking and looking for the right partner to help us, and finally after much searching, Midnight City fit the bill. They have a great understanding of what an indie needs, how to get the word out about the game, and help us get the best versions of the game possible to all those players that have been waiting patiently to experience Gone Home in their living rooms. Viva la Midnight City!”
In addition to this fantastic bit of news, Costume Quest 2 is also on the books with a tentatively planned release date just in time for Halloween. Costume Quest 2 brings back candy-crazed crusaders Wren and Reynold as they once again attempt to protect Halloween from untold horrors and adults. This time there will be a revamped combat system and “a new batch of costumes they wear to transform into giant super powered fantasy Hallowarriors.”
