Batman: Arkham Knight Delayed
Add another high profile title to your 2015 games list. Batman: Arkham Knight has been delayed until next year, joining an already long list of delayed games such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dying Light and The Order: 1886.
In an interview with Kotaku from May (but under embargo till today), Dax Ginn, the brand marketing producer with Rocksteady, explained why the delay happening:
“Now Batman: Arkham Knight is totally awesome. he thing about awesome, though, is awesome takes time. And totally awesome takes a lot of time. So in collaboration with our colleagues at Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics, we have decided to extend the development time of Batman: Arkham Knight. Now, the very simple reason for doing this is to ensure we are delivering the awesome level of quality that Batman fans and gamers expect from this, the final episode and the epic conclusion to the Rocksteady Arkham trilogy. The Dark Knight will face his ultimate challenge in Batman: Arkham Knight now to be released in 2015.” source: Kotaku
2015 seems to be shaping up already to be a big year for video games, but your list of fall 2014 games appears to be ever dwindling. Rocksteady’s installment in the Batman series was to be the first to release on new-gen hardware only – meaning Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
Hopefully “awesome” will be completely realized with this delay. Personally, I don’t mind games being delayed if it is to make the overall game experience better. With this trend of AAA developers taking extra time to polish these games, it can only mean better games to those who are really looking forward to them. A game can be late as many times as it takes – it can only be released bad once.
