Warcraft Off The Record Ep 39: The Cory Stockton Interview
Warcraft Off The Record Ep 36: The Blizzard Q and A
Dear Greatfather Frost,
When you hear Liiska start the podcast tonight, she is going to sound like she’s losing her mind — but it’s only me. I’m stuck here in Margle Palace, and it is the middle of Summerfest —- but the lag here is so bad that I figured I should start activating the Ghar Subconscious Communication Network now. Hopefully, my shenanigans won’t interfere too much with the rest of the team. I hear that TG is covering a proper Bard build (at last!), Kendo should be happier now that he has lots of new recipes (still on the PTS, mind you) to talk about, and Eni has been researching the legend of the Kitsune. I love that mount! I begged and pleaded (politely) when it was on the Rift store, but Liiska did not hear me — so we don’t have one. That’s why I’m trying something different today — maybe there’s still time to save Fae Yule!
Hope you are well.
Love, Liiska’s Id
Summerfest has started and Reforged has the scoop! Twitch chat is rockin’, TG has a cool new hat, thanks to Dimension Diva, and Enikki has a look into Karris’ backstory that might have you doing a double-think about this baddie from Ember Isle. Along with hotfix highlights, Liiska talks over the coming changes to tank threat modifiers, and TG examines the Stormalist spec close up. Plus, the team rolls up its collective sleeves and gets into a hot topic from the Rift Forums. Grab your swim suit and hop in – the water is sooooo fine!!
Intim from Intim_Gaming has stayed up WAY past his bed-time to hang out with the Reforged team. Among other things, he joins TG and Kendo on the PTS to play around with — head-shrinking?? Yup, head-shrinking. We’ve got Rift news, of course, and FINALLY, Tormented Gamer gets around to talking about the Arbiter. This is one you definitely don’t want to miss, Riftees.
Hammerknell Instant Adventures are live in game now, and one thing everyone who’s been in them agrees on — these fights make you THINK! Don’t plan on catching up on sleep here, thank-you-very-much. And come to think of it — that “thinking” thing is kind of this show’s theme. In the second installment of Foode Fight, Enemyfoode schools us in the art of assessing situations in The Codex. Remember positioning and map awareness from last time? Bring those, and be prepared to be raised one, as Foode talks “Making Decisions”. Tormented Gamer walks us through Sylent Chaos’ PhysTact — a great Rogue healer build for those just starting out in that role. Enikki has more lore about Alsbeth — turns out, Ole’ Bess didn’t have the easiest start in life. Who knew? And if you’re wondering if Kendo has found Uncle Stan’s Tackle Box yet… well, you’ll just have to listen to find out!
So … just say you want to start winning warfronts, instead of just piling up kills… but you don’t usually run with a pre-made. Impossible dream? Nope – catch up with Enemy Foode as he kicks off his examination of each Rift warfront – how they work and tips for knocking off those objectives. This week, Foode’s laser beam focuses on Black Garden & Library of the Runemasters. And Liiska is here to ask Foode all those ‘noob’ questions that you are (ahem) far too experienced to need to ask — so don’t worry, no one will ever know what you didn’t know! Along with all this great new awesomeness, we have our regular awesomeness – TG’s Spec This looks at a great Shaman build, we’ve got some brilliant pieces from the Forums, highlights from Hotfix and PTS News, and a scarey story about one of Alsbeth’s ancestors – all right here! Let’s get started!
This patch might be called The Echoes of Madness – but you gotta hand it to ‘em — the folks at Trion have their feet firmly on the ground when it comes to forging ahead with smart community-building. The evidence? The recent hiring of Linda “Brasse” Carlson as Director of Community Relations. Liiska has a quick behind-the-scenes backgrounder, looking at Carlson’s track record as someone who treats MMOs as genuine co-creations between the game devs and the dedicated player-base. In that spirit of appreciating co-creation, the Reforged crew spreads love to some of our favourite and most dedicated Rift community content-creators, and we enrich the pot even more as we bring on Reforged’s own pvp-maniac, Enemy Foode!
But wait – think that’s all? Noooooo! The new wardrobe system is live, and it ROCKS. You now have ALL the tools you could ever want to make your toon look AB-solutely FAB-ulous! Time to jump into the dressing room with TG and Kendo (scary thought!) Plus, Enikki has a Prime story to keep you entertained as you rifle through positively oodles of dye buckets!
Just after recording, Trion announced that patch 3.2 will launch next Wednesday, Apr 15th!! In the meantime, to tide you over, Kendo has lots of info from the PTS, Liiska has commentary on the Hotfix notes, TG has the Elemancer build from Burningalways, and Enikki is soldiering on with the March Wardens. All that, along with the usual reality-show-in-game that is #reforgedlife — sweet!
We’re back after a week away and OMG is there a lot to talk about! Big happenings out on the PTS are providing a giant peek into what we’re getting with patch 3.2, and Kendo and TG have details! TG has another Battle Bard spec from Grim Gaming for all you rogue pvp’ers, and along with the regular Hotfix notes, we’ve got some special Rift April Fool’s treats — one from the community and one from Trion! (And yes, that WAS a squirrel with a horn taped to its head — Nightmare Tide notwithstanding, you were NOT hallucinating!)
